Spiff & Mysmask

Yesterday we moved out of the cottage in the woods, now we have two weeks of staying with friends until we get to move into our home. It's a bit crowded here and we of course have more stuff than you would think considering that we have the majority of our belongings still at Mysmask's parents' place.

We are extremely grateful to our friends for taking us in and letting us borrow their car for hauling all the stuff over here. Much love for great friends! :)

At long last we found a flat that we liked and that we can afford, so we went ahead and bought it. We actually signed the contract on the 19th of April, but the last of the conditions for the contract to be valid were met this week. We have gotten the go-ahead from the bank regarding the loan and we have been accepted as members of the tenant-owner's association.

Today we went and talked some more with the couple selling the flat. We took some measurements of the rooms and windows, had a look at the storage room and laundry room, and got some tips about this and that. There are a few things that we want to do to the place, the wallpaper in one of the rooms is in a pink-purple shade that we don't really like, other walls could do with a repainting, and little things here and there. We'll try not to rush it though, we get to move in on the 15 of June and we'll take our time getting a feel for what we want and take it one thing at a time.

We'll have two weeks in limbo since we have to move out of this little cottage by the end of May, but we have arranged to stay with friends until 15 June. It will be a bit cramped at their place, but we'll live. Just the thought of having our own place soon will get us through.

We are really happy about finding a place of our own and can't wait to move in. :-)

As Christmas Eve is the big day in Sweden we have already begun celebrations. We are at Mysmask's parents house today, went for a lovely stroll outside in the morning and have just had lunch. Tomorrow we'll be at Spiff's parents with his sisters and their families and Boxing day back here with Mysmask's sister and her husband. It's all about family, you know. :) But it's wonderful and really great that Spiff could come up north for Christmas, even if it meant spending a whole night on a bus.

A big Merry Christmas from us to all our lovelies in Australia, Iceland, and the USA. We hope you have a wonderful and relaxing holiday.

I just got back from driving Spiff to the bus, which will take him to Luleå and the nearest airport. From there he'll then be flying to Stockholm to start his brand spanking new job tomorrow! *wheeeeee* :)

It's all a bit scary though, to think that we actually are on our way out of here where we've been more or less stuck for the past year and a half. Spiff moves today with only what he can bring on the plane. I will stay here at least over Christmas since flights and train rides are almost all sold out for Christmas and the ones left are insanely expensive. Hopefully Spiff will be able to come up north again for Christmas, but that remains to be seen. I'll keep looking for work but only in the Stockholm area now, of course, and in the mean time organise our things and pack up the bits and pieces that we've scattered about while living here.

We have a place to stay for a few months and it was remarkably easy and quick to organise considering that Spiff got the job Thursday. Such a relief! Then we'll have to go look around for another place, but I'm not worrying about that now, it feels like we have plenty of time to do that later. ;)

So anyway. All is grand at the moment with a new life approaching fast. I really should be celebrating, but I still can't believe it's happening. I think neither could Spiff even this morning. He was extremely nervous though, poor thing, but no doubt so would I be if I were he.
